Haleem is a popular Hyderabadi Dish rich with wheat and meat. It’s an ultimate slow cooked wonder recipe, having high vitamins and proteins. It’s very good for child and diabetic persons. It’s especially made in the special occasions, like Ramadan and marriage. The Wholesome meal can be served as a main food or as a side dish for roti. Meat includes mutton, chicken and sometimes beef also. Commonly use mutton or chicken. It requires few patience to make.
Ingredients:
Mutton- ½ kg
Barley (whole wheat)-1cup
Chana daal-1/2 cup
Oil- ½ cup
Onion sliced -2
Ginger garlic paste-2tbsp
Turmeric powder-1tsp
Coriander powder-2tbsp
Chilly powder-2tsp
Pepper powder-1tsp
Garam masala-1tbsp
Cumin powder-1tsp
Chaat masala-1tbsp
Salt-to taste
Coriander leaves chopped- ¼ cup
Mint leaves chopped- ¼ cup
Butter / olive oil – 4tbsp
Preparation:
Soak chana dal and barley overnight separately.
Next morning, cook barley along with 10 cups of water till nice and tender. (Or pressure cooks it with 2 cups of water till nice)
Cook chana daal with 5 cups of water on low flame till tender. Add more water if needed.
Cool and blend wheat and daal together.
Add oil in a pan, sauté 1 onion sliced till golden.
Add meat pieces, sauté for a while.
Add ginger, garlic paste. Sauté till the raw smell goes off.
